For photographers who are serious about their craft
Real feedback. Real people. Weekly live sessions. Monthly challenges. And a founder who shows up every single day
Photography can feel weirdly lonely. You shoot. You edit. You post. And if you're lucky, someone says "nice shot."
Which is fine — but it doesn't actually help you get better. No one in your life really gets the obsession. And without real feedback, you're just guessing.
So you buy another preset. Watch another tutorial. Upgrade your gear.
But the thing holding you back isn't your camera. It's that there's nobody in your corner.
Imagine having a place to go after every shoot.
Where people actually look at your work.
Where the feedback is honest and genuinely helps you improve.
Where photographers understand the obsession — and push you to grow in ways you couldn't on your own.
That's what The Darkroom is.
A community full of people who actually care — and a place that makes you better every single week.
The Darkroom is a private, curated community for photographers who want to get better — alongside people who care just as much as they do.
Not a Facebook group where photos get ignored. Not a toxic critique forum. Not another place where only the best work gets noticed.
Every member is hand-picked. The culture is supportive, honest, and genuinely motivated.
And unlike most communities, where the founders leave — I'm in here every single day.
My friend, this is where photographers come to stop guessing — and start getting better.
Good feedback doesn’t just fix one photo.
It changes how you see the next one.
The Darkroom brings together photographers from all over the world, at every stage of the journey.
Some joined last month. Some have been shooting since the 70s.
Some shoot landscapes. Some shoot street. Some shoot portraits, wildlife, travel, or whatever makes them drag themselves out of bed at 5am.
What we all have in common is simple — we're serious about getting better, and we show up for each other.
David — Scotland
Pierre — France
Monika — Poland
Liam — Sweden
Sigrún - Iceland
Nicholas — USA
This is what happens when you stop shooting alone and start getting real feedback from people who genuinely care about your work.

The difference isn't just technical. You can see a shift in how they see. How they edit. How they tell a story with a single frame.
That's what The Darkroom does.

Conversations happening every day. Whether you're stuck, celebrating a win, or just nerding out about photography.
I'm in here every day — giving feedback, answering questions, and showing up for the people inside.
I'm a photographer and content creator from Iceland — known online as That Icelandic Guy.
Over the last decade I've spent 10,000+ hours behind the lens and in the editing seat. I've built an audience of over 1.4 million people across the major platforms, and I've worked with brands like Sony, DJI and Sigma.
But none of that happened because I had better gear or more talent than everyone else.
It happened because I was obsessed with getting better — and I was lucky enough to find people along the way who pushed me, challenged me, and helped me see my own work differently.
Most photographers never get that.
They're out there shooting alone, improving slowly, with no one to really talk to about the thing they love most.
That's exactly why I built The Darkroom.
Not as a course. Not as a product. As a community — the space I wish I'd had when I was starting out.
And I show up for it every single day.
Because watching photographers grow inside this community is honestly one of the most satisfying things I do.

The Facebook groups are full of noise. Photos get posted and ignored. Nobody really knows each other. And the feedback — when it comes — means nothing.
The YouTube tutorials are great for technique. But watching someone else shoot doesn't make you shoot better. And when you close the tab, you're alone again.
The Discord servers are active but chaotic. It's hard to find signal in the noise, and most conversations go nowhere.
Going it alone means slow progress, no accountability, and nobody to push you when you get stuck.
The Darkroom is different because it's built around one thing most photography communities completely ignore — The people.
A small, curated group. A founder who shows up every day. Real feedback from photographers who genuinely care.
That's what makes the difference.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I'm not a professional photographer, is this for me?
Absolutely. Most members inside The Darkroom are passionate hobby photographers who love the craft and want to get better. You don't need to be a professional — you just need to care about your photography.
How active is the community?
Very. There are conversations happening every day, weekly live sessions, and monthly challenges keeping things moving. And I'm in there every single day — this isn't a community that was built and abandoned.
What if I'm too busy to participate every week?
Life happens. All lectures and deep dives are recorded so you never miss anything. Show up as much or as little as you can — even passive members tell us they get value just from watching others' work and feedback.
Is this different from just buying a course?
Very different. A course gives you information. The Darkroom gives you people — real feedback, real conversations, and someone pushing you forward every week. And yes, all my courses are included.
What happens after I apply?
I review every application personally. If it feels like a good fit I'll reach out with next steps. The process is straightforward — I just want to make sure the people coming in are the right people.
What if I join and it's not for me?
If The Darkroom isn't for you within the first 14 days, reach out and you'll get a full refund. No questions asked.
Here's the truth. The photography doesn't get better on its own.
The tutorials help. The gear helps. But at some point you've watched enough and bought enough stuff — and what's actually missing is a community full of people who push you to be better.
That's what The Darkroom is.
A small, curated community. A founder who shows up every single day. Real feedback on your real work.
And if it's not for you within 14 days — full refund, no questions asked.
The only thing left is to apply.
